OCTOBER 2025 UPDATES

Dear Calvary Family, 

I pray you are doing well and we so appreciate the prayers for our family as we are experiencing Gods renewed strength and multiplication in this season.   Our deepest apologies for the delay in getting back to you on this.  Lately we have been faced with little time in the office and we are behind on our communications.  

We are so grateful for our Calvary family and praying for this special time with our friend Dr. Soloman Wang.  You will surely have a great time celebrating all that God is doing through the Calvary family.  

This past year we began our 2nd Church Planting Cohort with 17 new families who are being trained and equipped to plant churches in some of the hardest and most unreached villages across Sri Lanka.  These families meet regularly with us for training, fellowship and encouragement as we prepare to launch them out in May 2026.  Alongside this, we continue to teach at our local Bible College, helping raise up the next generation of leaders who will bring lasting transformation to this nation. We’re also seeing exciting progress in a strong Hindu village in the central region where our team has been engaging the community through compassion projects and children’s programs and teaching English in the schools.  Relationships are growing, hearts are softening, and we are believing that a house church will soon be planted in this village.  Through all of this, God continues to do great things through our discipleship groups and ministry partnerships. We are deeply honored and privileged to represent the Calvary family here in Sri Lanka and to work together to see the Hope of Christ reach those who have never heard.

OCTOBER 2024 UPDATES

We are Kyle and Rebecca Alford serving in Southern Asia for the last 10 years. Our vision is to see a family of healthy, Spirit-empowered leaders who multiply disciples, transform communities, and plant churches – prioritizing those with no access to the gospel. Last year we had a cohort of 27 Church planting units who were trained and equipped to plant the church in the most unreached areas of our island. We have already seen six new churches planted last year and are looking forward to the multiplication of that work in the year ahead. Thank you so much for your faithful investment in the work God is doing around the world. 

Prayer request

1. Please pray for wisdom and Holy Spirit direction as we select the new church planting units for the 2025 cohort. We are looking for young men and women anointed to go to the most difficult areas. We need church planters with resilience and calling as we will be investing in them for the next 18 months.

2. Please pray for economic and political stability in our nation as we have recently elected a new president after the upheaval of 2022-2023. This new leader has a new ideology and will be selecting a new Prime Minister and calling for a new election for parliament. This will be a critical season for our nation.

3. Personally, we would love prayer for our children, Kaleb and Katherine as they have both left the country they love so much to go to university in America. We are praying God‘s direction over them and their lives. We are praying for good Christian community and mentors to surround them, and we are praying for comfort and peace as they are so far from home.

AUGUST 2022 UPDATES:

Our 4 biggest prayer request at this time:  

1.  Our 2 kids back in the States attending University - God’s direction, favor and provision 

2.  Church Planting Cohort beginning in October and meeting every other month- Believing God to

     empower healthy leaders and establish a church planting movement in Sri Lanka. 

3.  Marriage Retreat for Church Planters - In November we are holding our first marriage retreat for

     this years group of church planters, building a strong and healthy marriage and family life as their

     foundation. 

4.  Emerging Leaders - We have a group of 20-25 yr. olds meeting every other month - we

     have the privelege of mentoring and discipling these incredible young leaders who are going to

     transform Southern Asia.
